Meet the Pastor

Rev. Dr. W. Marshall Myles

Rev. Dr. W. Marshall Myles, NSJ Senior Pastor

The Reverend W. Marshall Myles is a native of Baton Rouge, Louisiana and a product of the East Baton Rouge Parish Schools. He holds both an undergraduate and graduate degree from Southern University at Baton Rouge. He is also a graduate of the Union Theological Seminary. Pastor Myles was awarded an Honorary Doctor of Divinity degree by the Morris-Booker Baptist College of Dermoth, Arkansas.

He has served as the Pastor of St. John Baptist Church of Mulatto Bend, Louisiana and the Star of Bethlehem Baptist Church of Baton Rouge. He has been pastor at the New St. John Baptist Church of Baton Rouge for the past thirty-five (35) years.

As a contributor and participant in a variety of community oriented programs, Pastor Myles has served as Executive Director of Operation Hope, President of the Board and Executive Director of the Louisiana Council for the Adoption of Minority Youth: One Church, One Family, Chairman of the East Baton Rouge Parish Title 1 Advisory Council, and he is a member of the Greater Baton Rouge Council for Alcohol and Drug Abuse.

His religious affiliations have been with the West Baton Rouge Ministers Conference and the East Baton Rouge Parish Ministers Conference, of which he served as Vice President. He was instrumental in organizing the South Baton Rouge Ecumenical Council and he is a member of the Fourth District Baptist Association.

At the state level, Pastor Myles has served as Vice President, Corresponding Secretary and Finance Chairman of the Louisiana Baptist State Convention. He has served as Director of the Louisiana Baptist Youth Encampment and Director and Chaplain of the Baptist Student Center on the campus of Southern University at Baton Rouge. At the national level, Pastor Myles has served on the Board of Directors of the National Baptist Convention, U.S.A., Incorporated.Pastor Myles is known throughout the city, state and nation as a minister of the gospel and for his interest in and concern for young people. As a result, he has been instrumental in the development of several innovative programs for young people at New St. John Baptist Church and in the community.

Pastor Myles’ vision for his church, community and the world would not be attainable without the support, wisdom and admonishments of his wife, Joyce. They have been married for fifty years and have two adult children and one granddaughter.

Meet the Pastoral Team

Rev. Kevin Galloway

Reverend Kevin Galloway is a native of Fordyce, Arkansas. He began his ministry at Enon Baptist Church. Reverend Galloway moved to Crossett, Arkansas where he served as Associate pastor at First Missionary Baptist Church for 10 years.

Reverend Galloway moved to Baton Rouge in 2010. He united with New St. John Baptist Church in 2014. Reverend Galloway obtained an Associate Degree in Business from The University of Phoenix and a Certificate of Theology  from United Theological Seminary Atlanta, GA.

Reverend Galloway is a praying preacher who brings a word from the Lord to the people of the Lord and introduces Jesus to a hurting world.
